About

Reduced imaginary and flat areas, distinguish most of my portraits.

Some of them are emphasized inluscious surfaces such as Perspex and the simplified forms, are depicted in plain black, shadows play an integral role in the works as they add further formal complexity to the portrait’s mood.

Some examples: “ageing” 2011 and “quiet” 20011.
I have attempted to infuse my portraits with a melancholic beauty,
the arrangement of these is expressive:

The place occupied by the figures, the empty spaces around them, the proportions, everything has its share. Eventhough they are abstract, they all show the psychological state of the model. My instinct is to develop works in an opaque but warm environment and at the same time with clarity, exploring compositions, e.g., "Dreaming" 2010, was painted from my feelings, fears and thoughts. Most of my works have been the result of explorations of mediums, techniques and forms.

What interests me is the conquering of the fear, the hiding, the running away from it, facing it, exorcising it, being ashamed of it, and finally, being afraid of being afraid." Louise Bourgeois
